Position: Technical Sales Rep for Surveying and Engineering Equipment

Butler Survey Supplies has ten outside sales staff selling equipment in Western Canada. We are looking to add another survey experienced sales professional. We also have a team of 3 technical support people and a series of warehouses and order desk staff, as well as a marketing department.

 Objectives  

  1. Increase sales and rentals of GPS equipment
  2. Increase consumable sales in your market segment
  3. Effectively demonstrate and quote the solutions we provide in a professional manner to all your prospective clients
  4. Track demonstrations, prospects, quotes and opportunities and build the company marketing database
  5. Develop closer relationships with clients and demonstrate value to those clients through superior customer service and support, which results in increased margins

 Primary Responsibilities:  

  1. Develop rapport with clients by regularly and consistently making sales calls, dropping off repaired instruments, demonstrating products, presenting solutions to either field staff or office personnel, to introduce the technologies we provide and to better find out about the customers needs and problems. We see this person initiating and maintaining a trusted and accountable network of relationships in the Engineering and Surveying Industry by delivering on their commitments. (Time allotment 65%)
  2. Provide accurate, complete and detailed quotations to the client in a timely manner.( Time allotment 10%)
  3. Be able to commit to continual learning on the technology we provide ( Time allotment 10%)
  4. Provide value through training and supporting clients and staff, on the operation and application of technology. (Time allotment 5%)
  5. Expand on the territorial database in order to add marketing and contact information and increase the brand recognition of the company and products of the organization ( Time allotment 5%)
  6. Help ensure inventory accuracy by providing detailed information to purchasers for ordering equipment, and help to ensure data accuracy and integrity in the system by watching margins, costs and item stock numbers.( Time allotment 5%)
Major Accomplishments Expected: 
 
  1. Sell three total stations and one RTK set a month into the territory, after one year’s experience.
  2. Rent 5 GPS sets a month in this territory, after one year’s experience.
  3. Demonstrate capital equipment 7 times a month, to qualified leads, on average after one year’s experience.
  4. Learn the applications and operation (features and benefits) of the equipment you sell – one major brand or model a month during the first year.
  5. Double the sales volume in your territory within one year.

 Education and professional Certification:  

Education and certification in one of the following areas would be an asset:

• Professional Land Surveyor

• Geomatics Degree from UNB or UofC

• CET

• Survey Diploma from BCIT, NAIT, SAIT, Red River College, or SIAST

• Civil Eng Diploma or Degree

• Drafting Diploma or Degree

• Forestry Diploma with GIS and Surveying Experience

• Remote Sensing and GIS Experience

• AutoCAD/Micro station Experience 
 
Experience 
 

3years experience in one of the following areas:

• Legal Land Surveying

• Engineering Land Surveying

• Construction Land Surveying

• Seismic Land Surveying

Experience with GPS, Total Stations, Coordinate Systems, Map Projections, Elevations and leveling would be an asset.
